Not All Dental Insurance Is Created Equal
Dental insurance can be a great help for those who have it. A typical dental plan will cover preventive care entirely and a portion of other common treatments, like fillings, crowns, and root canal therapy. At Seven Star Dental, we proudly work with most dental insurance providers. However, we do not accept Medicaid, Medicare, or other government funded insurance. It’s not because we want to make our patients’ lives difficult. On the contrary, it’s because we want to make them better.
How Dental Insurance Works
Dental insurance allows patients to pay a monthly premium in return for certain benefits. Most dental insurance providers will cover the full cost of routine preventive care — 2 hygiene visits and cleanings and 1 set or X-rays per year. For other procedures, the insurance will only cover a portion of what the dentist charges for the service. Your insurance may cover most of the cost of a basic service, like a filling or an extraction, and maybe about half the cost of a major service, like a crown, a root canal, or dental implants. This arrangement helps patients receive quality dental care at a more affordable cost.
Why Is Government Funded Insurance Different?
Medicare, Medicaid, and other government funded insurance programs do not offer the same benefits as private insurance companies do. Their pre-negotiated rates are far lower, and these plans have restrictions on the types of materials and techniques that can be used. This limits what the dentist can do to help their patient and can actually end up compromising the patient’s oral health. If your dentist is restricted from offering a certain type of treatment or forced to use a low-quality material, it increases the chances of treatment failure, which could end up causing additional pain and discomfort and lead to other oral health issues down the line, not to mention frustration and disappointment.
What Are The Alternatives?
Dr. Bustamante prides herself on the quality and consistency of the care she provides. She cares deeply about her patients and their health. It goes against her core values to compromise on treatment quality, especially when it could lead to further complications. That is why, apart from working with most private dental insurance providers, Seven Star Dental offers a membership plan for patients without insurance or whose insurance is highly restrictive.
STAR MEMBERSHIP PLAN
The Star Membership Plan is a great way to save on routine care and other treatments, and you can rest assured that you’re getting the best quality care available. With the plan, you are free to make decisions about your oral health care based on your personal needs and goals and not based on what a government plan deems acceptable. It also means that Dr. Bustamante is free to offer you all options, not just what your plan will allow. The plan is easy to enroll in and renews annually for your convenience. You cannot be denied because of your age, your health, or any pre-existing condition, and there is no waiting period to take advantage of the benefits.
Dr. Bustamante and the team at Seven Star Dental are caring and compassionate professionals who are always willing to discuss ways to help make your dental care more affordable without having to sacrifice quality. They want you to enjoy a lifetime of excellent oral health. If you have Medicare, Medicaid, or another government insurance plan and do not want to go elsewhere for your dental care, while we cannot accept your plan, we can talk to you about the Star Membership Plan as well as other financial options. The bottom line is, we care about your health, and we believe that nothing should stop you from getting the quality treatment you deserve.
