Warning Signs Not To Ignore
At Seven Star Dental, we encourage our patients to monitor the state of their oral health between visits. Many of our patients see us so infrequently during the calendar year that we want to make sure they are cleaning and caring for their teeth properly at home. Be sure that you and your loved ones are brushing thoroughly and flossing daily. We recommend that patients check their teeth and mouth regularly for signs of any problems. Warning signs that may indicate a problem include:
Tooth Discomfort
Sudden discomfort can be caused by something as simple as food trapped between the teeth. If you thoroughly brush and floss your teeth, the discomfort may go away. If the discomfort continues, you may be suffering from worn or decaying enamel. This also includes problems with tooth sensitivity.
Bad Breath
It is not uncommon to experience bad breath from time to time, especially after eating and drinking certain foods and beverages. The problem is usually remedied after brushing and flossing. If you notice that you have bad breath frequently, it can be an indication that you may have a problem such as decay or gum disease.
Visible Cracks or Chips in Teeth
It is important to visibly inspect your teeth from time to time to look for any signs of cracks or chips. This problem can develop from issues such as chewing non-food items, biting your nails, clenching and grinding your teeth, or trauma to the mouth. If cracks and chips are not repaired in a timely fashion, it can lead to a more serious complication.
If you are in Cincinnati, OH or the surrounding areas and have recently experienced any of the warning signs mentioned above, we recommend calling our office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. We want to be sure to diagnose any problems in your mouth and recommend treatment to prevent any issues from progressing. We would also love to hear from you if it has been longer than six months since your last routine examination. We hope to hear from you soon!
