Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening is one of the more popular ways to get a brighter smile quickly for our patients here at Seven Star Dental in Cincinnati, Ohio. To find out more about the various options for teeth whitening available and which home remedies you can read the information below, or better yet, we suggest a consultation at the office. Not every alternative for this procedure would be a viable option for everyone. Some people have darker teeth or chipped teeth or spacing, and therefore, we might need veneers or full coverage crowns to rebuild your smile.
Patients who have bridges or crowns in the front of their mouth may need to either replace them or consider doing a limited amount of whitening, since porcelain restorations will not bleach.

Take-home trays
With this process, we will take impressions of your mouth and make custom-fitted trays that you put a gel in and let sit for several hours a night. Ideally, you would brush and floss in advance and avoid coffee and tea or red wine during the time that you are bleaching.
White Strips.
White Strips are the least expensive way to whiten your teeth. While we carry the professional strength version in our office, again, this is not for everyone. Because the strips are a little flimsy, they require a little more patience and commitment to wear them. In addition, because they are a lower concentration of gel, the results vary from person to person. If your teeth are a little yellow, and they are straight, then this could be a simple option for you. If you have missing teeth, crowding or rotated teeth or bridges, it can be difficult getting the thin slippery strips to access all the surfaces of your teeth evenly and be as effective as the tray method.
Store bought toothpastes and mouth rinses.
While it would be nice if you could just brush your teeth a couple times and they would be whiter, essentially what these over-the-counter products do is clean stains or plaque off your teeth, making them look a little lighter.
If you have been thinking of getting whiter teeth, give Seven Star Dental a call and we will be happy to go over the best options for you!!
